Unsecured personal loans

Fast, easy loans

Small loans, quick fix for life's needs

Borrow a small amount when something comes up, without putting up your car or home as security. You'll see exactly what it costs before you agree.

The basics

What is an unsecured loan?

An unsecured loan is money you borrow without offering anything you own as security. You don't sign over a car, a house or savings. Instead, we decide based on your income, your monthly expenses and how you've managed credit before.

You repay it in monthly instalments over an agreed term, and the loan is closed once the last payment is made.

Unsecured loan

No asset at risk. Approval depends on affordability and credit history. Suited to smaller amounts and shorter terms.

Secured loan

Backed by an asset such as a car or home, which the lender can claim if you stop paying. Usually used for larger amounts.

Good for

Car repairs, medical bills, school costs, a broken appliance, or getting through to payday when an expense won't wait.

How it works

From application to paid out

Applying is done online, on your phone or computer. There are no branches to visit and no paperwork to post.

  1. Apply online

Tell us how much you need, what it's for, and about your income and monthly expenses.

  2. Get a decision

We check what you can afford and your credit record, then tell you yes or no with the reason.

  3. Review your offer

See the amount, monthly repayment, term and total you'll repay. Accept only if it works for you.

  4. Get paid, then repay

The money goes into your bank account. You repay the same amount each month until the loan is settled.

We check what you can afford

Interest and fees are in the total you see on your offer. Nothing is added later in the fine print.

Questions

Frequently asked

When can I apply?

Create an account, complete your profile, and apply online. We'll show you your offer before you agree.

How much can I borrow?

TinyBank is built for small loans. We'll publish the minimum and maximum amounts, terms and rates before launch. What you're offered will depend on what you can comfortably afford to repay.

Do I need to put up security?

No. Our loans are unsecured, so you don't offer your car, home or anything else you own. That's also why we look carefully at affordability.

Will applying affect my credit record?

We'll check your credit record as part of the decision. We'll always tell you before we run that check.

What if I can't make a repayment?

Contact us as soon as you know, ideally before the payment is due. We'd rather agree a plan with you than add to the pressure.

Can I settle my loan early?

Yes, you'll be able to repay what you owe at any time. We'll confirm the exact settlement terms with our pricing before launch.

How does investing work?

Investors add funds to a TinyBank wallet and choose loans to fund, from R100 per loan. As borrowers repay, principal and interest are paid back into your wallet in proportion to what you funded. Loans can go unpaid, so only invest money you can afford to lose.
